Celebrate food and your body by mindful and slow eating – on the road as well as at home.
To be honest, I’ve always thought it a little odd if people said that “eating“ was one of their hobbies. After all, how can one of our most basic human needs be something like a hobby? But let’s be real: for many people, including me, it’s exactly that. Even more than that: it’s a true passion. It’s how I like to spend my time. But it’s not the sole act of shoveling food into my mouth that gives me joy. For me, there’s much more to it than the pure act of eating.
Eating, for me, is also about celebrating the things that come with it: it’s about exploring new tastes, about enjoying a beautifully set table, and first and foremost having a bunch of my favourite people joining the feast. Diving deeply into the food scene in my hometown Munich and dipping into untried tastes in other countries is something I love just as much as I love having my own kitchen as a playground to experiment with new dishes and plates.
When cooking and baking, I try to be conscious about the food I buy and go for the regional, sustainable and seasonal options. That’s what slow eating – or “slow food“, to name the movement around it – is all about: enjoying food mindfully. This way, the act of eating becomes way more than satisfying your hunger: it will happily trigger all your senses.
